OPENING: Standing In The Gap

‭‭2 Corinthians 10:4 (NLT) “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.”

INFORMATION: Taking Ground For The Kingdom

Matthew 6:9-13 ESV — “Pray then like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'”

6 Core Things in This Prayer:

1. We have access to the King

  • “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name” — not sending up a wish; going straight to the top. He is holy and worthy of all praise.

Psalms‬ ‭47‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬ “For God is the King over all the earth. Praise him with a psalm.”

2. We are partners in Kingdom advancement

  • “Your kingdom come, your will be done” — Greek: basileia (Kingdom) — not just a place but a forward movement, an active advancing of a king’s rule into new territory. Jesus spoke on the Kingdom 120 times in the 4 Gospels.

3. We are taking ground

  • “On earth as it is in heaven” — Greek: (earth) — not the whole world, but the specific land under your feet. That’s Dyersburg. Northwest Tennessee.

Matthew 11:12 — “Since the days of John the Baptist the Kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing.”

4. We need the Father to sustain us

  • “Give us this day our daily bread” — you can’t battle this life alone

John 6:35 NLT — “Jesus replied, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.'”

5. We clear the ground through repentance

  • “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” — you can’t pray for God to move out there while holding unforgiveness in here. Revival always starts with repentance.

2 Chronicles 7:14 NLT — “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”

6. We will overcome

  • “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” — the enemy already knows he loses

Revelation 12:11 NLT — “And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.”

INSPIRATION: The Restoration Is Here

Jesus didn’t just come to save people from hell — He came to restore everything. Every broken person who lost hope, every hurting family that needs healing — back home with the Father.

1. The mission was restoration

John 10:10 NLT — “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

2. You get to participate in the mission

  • When we pray the Lord’s Prayer, we’re not just saying words — we’re joining the mission with Jesus

John 20:21 NLT — “As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”

MOTIVATION: Join The Work

Obstacle 1: “I don’t feel empowered.”

John 15:5 NLT — “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

Obstacle 2: “I don’t know if I believe.”

1 John 1:7 NLT — “If we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.”

Acts 16:30-31 NLT — “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.'”

TRANSFORMATION: The Good News Is Now

John 14:6 NLT — “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Romans 10:9 NLT — “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

THREE CALLS TO ACTION:

  1. Come forward. Make it personal today.
  2. Name your ground. Pray specifically.
  3. Find a prayer partner at TC this week.

Matthew 18:19 NLT — “If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.”

Revival is not a solo assignment.
