JESUS – In Culture (Your Worldview)

Sunday, January 7, 2024

Matthew 16:24 (AMP) –  Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to follow Me [as My disciple], he must deny himself [set aside selfish interests], and take up his cross [expressing a willingness to endure whatever may come] and follow Me [believing in Me, conforming to My example in living and, if need be, suffering or perhaps dying because of faith in Me].

Cultures are different in 3 ways:

1. Generational

2. Geographical

3. General

CULTURE INFLUENCES (but should not determine):

I. Your Worldview

Ephesians 4:17, Romans 12:2, James 4:4, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

II. Your Faith

John 8:12, 2 Corinthians 5:7, 1 Corinthians 2:14, Hebrews 11:1

WORLDLY CULTURE TELLS YOU…

Proverbs 14:12 (ESV) – There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.

KINGDOM CULTURE TELLS YOU…

Matthew 6:31-34  (AMP) – 31 Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ 32 For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; [but do not worry,] for your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. 34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
