THREE BIG QUESTIONS
I. What Is Evangelism?
Mark 16:15 (NLT) – And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.
Acts 1:8 (NLT) – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
II. How Did Jesus Model Evangelism?
He Shared Himself As The Good News:
#1 – He Alone Forgives Sins
Mark 2:5 (NLT) – Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”
John 8:10-11 (NLT) – 10 Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” 11 “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”
#2 – He Alone Saves
Acts 4:12 (NLT) – There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.
John 14:6 (NLT) – Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
#3 – He Alone Gives Eternal Life
John 11:25-26 (NLT) – 25 Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. 26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.
John 3:16 (NLT) – For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
III. What Is Our Part In Evangelism?
#1 – PRAY
Matthew 9:37-38 (NLT) – 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
Acts 4:31 (NLT) – After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.
#2 – GO
Isaiah 6:8 (NLT) – Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
Matthew 28:18-20 (NLT) – 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
#3 – SHARE
1 Peter 3:15-16 (NLT) – 15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. 16 But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.
Romans 1:16 (NLT) – For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.
