How did Jesus see:
THE SCRIPTURES?
I. Jesus Proclaimed He Himself Was The Fulfillment Of Scripture
John 5:39 (NLT) – “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!”
John 1:1 (NLT) – In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Matthew 5:17 (NLT) – “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.”
II. Jesus Viewed Scripture As All-Important, Alive & Authoritative
Matthew 4:4 (NLT) – But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
John 17:17 (NLT) – Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.
Hebrews 4:12 (NLT) – For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
2 Timothy 3:15-17 (NLT) – 15 You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
Proverbs 30:5 (NLT) – Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.
Psalm 119:105 (NLT) – Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
