WORSHIP IN WORDS & ACTION
I. Worship Is Submissive
Psalm 95:6 (NLT) – Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
Philippians 2:10–11 (NLT) – that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Mark 5:6 (NLT) – When Jesus was still some distance away, the man saw him, ran to meet him, and bowed low before him.
“I need to worship because without it I lose a sense of wonder and gratitude and plod through life with blinders on.” -John Ortberg
II. Worship Is Physical
John 14:15 (NLT) – If you love me, obey my commandments.
John 14:23 (NLT) – Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.
John 14:24 (NLT) – Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.
“Worship is action. Worship is not lazy, boring and sad.” -Mac Canoza
“Worship is giving God the best He has given you.” -Oswald Chambers
“Work becomes worship when you dedicate it to God and perform it with an awareness of His presence.” -Rick Warren
John 5:19-20 (NLT) – 19 So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished.
John 14:30-31 (NLT) – 30 “I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me, 31 but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let’s be going.
